The Old Kent Barn is a wedding and events venue run by The Old Kent Barn Ltd, registered in England and Wales under company number 09482990, at The Old Kent Barn, Smersole Farm, Swingfield, England, CT15 7HF. We are the data controller for your personal information.

This policy explains how we use your information when you visit our website, make an enquiry, book a viewing or join our mailing list.   • Contact details: names, email addresses and phone numbers you give us through our enquiry forms, by email or by phone.

  • Enquiry details: your wedding or event date, guest numbers and anything else you tell us about your plans.

  • Viewing bookings: details you enter when you book a viewing or call through Calendly.

  • Website data: pages you visit, how you found us and device information, collected through cookies and similar technologies if you agree to them.

  • Social media interactions: messages or comments you send us on Facebook or Instagram.

Advertising and measurement

We advertise The Old Kent Barn on Facebook and Instagram, which are run by Meta Platforms Ireland Limited. To measure and improve our ads, we use:

  • Meta Pixel: a cookie on our website that tells us which pages people visit and whether they make an enquiry or book a viewing.

  • Meta Conversions API: sends similar information about website activity directly from our website to Meta. This can include your email address or phone number in a secure, encrypted (hashed) form.

Both only run if you accept advertising cookies. You can change your choice at any time using the cookie settings button in the bottom left corner of our website, and manage the ads you see through your Facebook or Instagram ad settings.

  • Advertisement: the Meta Pixel, used to measure and improve our Facebook and Instagram advertising.

How long we keep your information

We only keep your information for as long as we need it.

  • Enquiries and our marketing list: until you unsubscribe, or after you've stopped engaging with our emails.

  • Website statistics: for a limited period set in our Google Analytics settings.

If you book with us, our booked couples privacy notice explains how long we keep your booking information. When we no longer need your information, we securely delete it or make it anonymous.

International transfers

Some of our providers, such as Squarespace, Meta, Google, Flodesk and Calendly, may store or process your information outside the UK, including in the United States. When this happens, we make sure appropriate safeguards are in place, such as UK adequacy regulations or the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or Addendum.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law, you have the right to:

  • ask for a copy of the information we hold about you

  • ask us to correct information that is wrong or incomplete

  • ask us to delete your information

  • ask us to limit how we use your information

  • object to us using your information based on legitimate interests, including for advertising

  • object to direct marketing at any time, and we'll stop

  • withdraw your consent at any time, where we rely on it

  • ask us to transfer your information to another organisation
